Our History

Pannell Kerr Forster was founded in 1969 through the collaboration of four prominent accountancy firms from AustraliaCanada, the United Kingdom and the United States. These founding firms were:

  • Pannell Fitzpatrick & Co, founded in 1869 by William Henry Pannell (UK);
  • Harris, Kerr, Forster & Co, founded in 1911 as Harris, Kerr & Co by William Harris & Errol Kerr, and in 1923 as WJ Forster & Co by William Forster (USA);
  • Campbell, Sharp, Nash & Field (Canada); and
  • Wilson, Bishop, Bowes & Craig (Australia).

In 1980, member firms made the decided to adopt “Pannell Kerr Forster” as their common brand name, establishing an international accountancy brand. Subsequently, in 2000, member firms opted to streamline name to “PKF”. Presently, Member firms are progressively embracing this name in their respective home markets or incorporating “PKF” as a prefix to the existing firm name.

PKF The Gambia, established in 2007, has consistently grown over the years. It succeeded KPMG The Gambia on 31st March 2005, due to KPMG’s global strategy and rationalization., The operating model of The Gambia office, along with four others in Africa, was reviewed to that of a correspondent firm. Therefore, when PKF was set up in 2007, culmination of 30 years of sound professional practice. It continues to uphold a high reputation of professionalism, maintaining high standards, and providing prompt and personalized service to date.
